Two River Basin Visioning Workshops were recently held in Mawlamyine and Ayeyarwady. Dr Hla Myo Thwe, MIID Project and Research Coordinator, explained to Central News Bureau-Skynetcnb  how these workshops brought together government officials, civil society and villagers to share the visions on future for Ayeyarwady and Thanlwin rivers basin and encourages the villagers to address the issues that they are facing.

The workshop was jointly hosted by Myanmar Healthy River Initiative (MHRI) and Participatory River Management (PRM), implemented by Myanmar Institute for Integrated Development (MIID), Ecosystem Conservation and Community Development Initiative (ECCDI), International Centre for Environmental Management (ICEM) and International Water Management Institute. The project is supported by the CGIAR Research Program on Water Land and Ecosystems, Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), Oxfam and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation (MoNREC).
